Reverend Anne Hollinghurst (Hughes Hall 2007) announced to be Birmingham’s first female bishop

The Prime Minister’s office has announced that Hughes alumna Reverend Anne Hollinghurst, will be appointed as the next suffragan Bishop of Aston, making her Birmingham’s first female Bishop.

The appointment was announced by the Prime Minister’s office after the Queen approved the nomination. Revd Anne, Hughes Hall Alumna (2007), worked as a youth worker prior to her ordination in 1997. Since then she has taken on a vast range of roles in the church, and is currently the vicar of St Peter’s Church in St Albans.

Revd Anne will be consecrated during a ceremony on the 29th of September and we wish her all the very best for her new role as Bishop.
