Hedwig visits Hughes!

Little Owls Family Club welcomes the Raptor Foundation to Hughes Hall

After an enforced break of 4 years owing first to the pandemic and then to avian flu, the Raptor Foundation made a welcome return to college on Saturday 11 May.

Over 50 children and adults were delighted and mesmerised by the informative talk and the flying display offered by Graham and Jack, the Raptor Foundation volunteers. There were plenty of opportunities to get ‘up, close and personal’ to the birds, which included a Harris hawk, Tawny Owl, Barn Own and White Faced Owl.

For a college like Hughes Hall with a large community of mature students (and their families), and senior members from around the world, as well as around 150 staff, it is a wonderful chance for many of those with younger children to spend time together. The Little Owls Family Club remains a firm college (family) favourite!

Photo opportunities were plentiful, and after meeting and learning about the birds, brunch was enjoyed by all in the Dining Hall.

Thank you to those in college who organise such a broad and inclusive events programme, and for volunteers like those from the Raptor Foundation for the fun facts and happy memories.
